The homelike quality of our school contributes to a relaxed, focused experience for the child. Our indoor classroom activities are placed on open shelves for selection as interest and readiness inspires the child. Our outdoor environment offers a beautiful developed playground with manipulatives, tricycles, pets, and gardens.

Getting children from around the world communicating, will give them more control over the future, THEIR future, and will awaken curiosity and interest in this wonderful planet we all call ‘home’.

Passionate about the environment as well as having a BSc (Hons) in Natural Sciences and being a Cambridge DELTA qualified English teacher, I’m dedicated to education, communication and illumination of STEM subjects.

My name is Elen Evans and I successfully completed my BSc (Hons) undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences in 2017 and went on to found STEM Ginger Education to bridge the gap between subject learning and English language learning. I think the best way of ameliorating the environmental catastrophe we are busy creating is by raising awareness of how possible and easy it is to change things; I think the best way to learn a language is by doing projects, doing tasks, being interested, being curious and having a purpose – STEM Ginger Education combines these, resulting in fun, interactive learning. As our children are the engineers, politicians, artists of the future, let’s work with them!


STEM Ginger Education writes, or finds and develops projects, related to the environment and gives children a purpose for communicating in English. I encourage teachers to implement CLIL methodology in all classrooms because it works with so many of the skills that are invaluable in education, e.g. critical thinking, communication, creativity, cognition. I truly believe global interconnectivity is what is being overlooked as we consider how to improve (even eradicate) climate change. We talk about this ‘global world’ yet nations don’t work together, people don’t understand each other (be it due to language, culture or customs). If the young people of today are encouraged to work together, learn about each other and be curious about differences, the future seems so much brighter and united somehow.


CLIL support is offered to all teachers. I am specialised and experienced in Science and English Language teaching so join me for training and support in the areas you need.

The Environmental Crisis – A global issue

We drop plastic waste on the street in Spain and it ends up on a beach in Indonesia; the excessive production of greenhouse gases in the western world causes global temperatures to rise, ice-caps in the poles to melt and low-lying islands to become inundated; the Covid-19 Pandemic has swept around the world, being carried from nation to nation.

It is clear as day that we are all in this together, we share this planet and we need to look after it…together.

Different environments, different languages, different cultures BUT the same planet, the same atmosphere, the same oceans and the same skies.

Why I care

After embarking on a degree in Natural Sciences, I came to realise just how little I really know about the way we are treating the natural world.

“The more I learn, the less I know.”

I started feeling more confused about what I need to do to help out: I recycle, I try to travel by train rather than flying, I use less plastic (but still seem to use heaps!), I eat mainly a vegan diet…Isn’t that enough? But as I listened to others mulling solutions to this environmental crisis over, I pondered:

  • My actions barely scratch the surface; how can we act so as to truly make an impact on a global scale?
  • How can we take effective action when there are so many mixed messages flying around?
  • Why should people on one side of the globe, care about what happens to people they will never meet on the other side of the globe?

My nephews and nieces are young and spritely, they have their lives in front of them, and they will be living on this planet for a good while to come. It is their planet too and I want to leave them a comfortable, well-maintained and well-respected place to live – them and ALL young people.

What is really daft is that we don’t have to treat our planet the way we are treating it – we have options, we know these options, and there is hope. I want the younger generations to grow up on a planet that is kind to them, that they are kind to and treat with respect, because that is what they have always seen happening.
